USA Bobsled/Skeleton Partners with Snowflake Intelligence

Few sports require the level of data-driven precision, grit and sheer fortitude as bobsled and skeleton. Consider the scene: Frigid temperatures and unforgiving ice. The skill and technique needed to maneuver the nearly 1,400-pound sled as it careens down the slick track at speeds up to 93 miles per hour. The bone-jarring g-force — five times the force of gravity — that accompanies each of the Olympic track’s 16 blind curves as the crew streaks toward the finish line.
Stakes are high. Mistakes are costly. And athletes and coaches need rich, reliable data insights to inform every critical decision and draw milliseconds closer to clinching an Olympic medal. At Snowflake, we understand that speed and precision are critical, whether you're deriving insights from petabytes of data or navigating an icy track at 90 miles per hour.
That’s why I’m so proud to announce Snowflake’s partnership as the Official Data Cloud Provider for the USA Bobsled/Skeleton (USABS) team. With this partnership, USABS will leverage Snowflake’s platform as the data and AI infrastructure for its most critical data, helping drive the team’s performance strategy, support athletes, optimize sled technology and gain a crucial competitive advantage as the team heads toward the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026.
To gain AI-powered insights at scale, the team will tap into the power of Snowflake Intelligence (in public preview) to bring robust, actionable insights to the fingertips of every USABS coach and athlete. With Snowflake Intelligence, the team can use natural language to ask questions of everything from training data to equipment information to help turn data intelligence into on-track performance.
“We are thrilled to join forces with Snowflake because they understand that the path to excellence is paved with data intelligence,” says Curt Tomasevicz, Director of Sport Performance for USA Bobsled and Skeleton. “With Snowflake Intelligence, we can ask very specific questions in natural language and get responses that lead to actionable items for our athletes. We don't have to be extremely technical, but the results that we get are going to be very technical to help our athletes. This is the big snowball effect that's really going to help our program over the long term.”
In the run up to the Winter Games in February 2026, Snowflake will empower USA Bobsled/Skeleton to harness real-time data and AI for sophisticated data analytics aimed at improving every aspect of sled performance and athlete technique. With Snowflake Intelligence, USABS will be able to:
Optimize push combinations: Analyze the synchronized performance of two- and four-person crews to determine the most efficient pairings and load techniques.
Deconstruct the start: Isolate and correct performance inefficiencies — such as the problematic "bump" during the jump-in phase — by correlating small velocity disturbances with precise X, Y and Z acceleration data.
Drive medal-winning insights: Provide coaches with fast, actionable data analysis to make micro-adjustments to athlete training and technique that can shave critical hundredths of a second off run times.
These are just some of the ways that Snowflake will help support USA Bobsled/Skeleton in the coming months — and these opportunities serve as a running start to more Olympic glory to come.
Earlier this year, I also announced a three-year partnership as the Official Data Collaboration Provider for Team USA and the LA28 Games to deliver the most data-driven Olympic Games of all time. This partnership with USABS builds on Snowflake’s commitment to bringing best-in-class innovation to Team USA and the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
I can’t wait to share more as we help fuel triumphs across sports’ largest global stage. We’re thrilled to be part of the team, and we’ll see you on the ice.
