Snowflake Joins the Agentic AI Foundation (AAIF) to Accelerate Open Agent Standards

The pace of innovation in AI, particularly in the realm of large language models and intelligent agents, is accelerating exponentially. As AI systems move from simple assistants to complex, autonomous agents capable of performing multistep tasks, the need for robust, neutral and collaborative standards is critical.
Today, Snowflake is thrilled to announce a significant step in its commitment to both open source and the future of AI: We are joining the Agentic AI Foundation (AAIF) as a Gold member.
Enterprises want to move fast with AI, but they also need confidence that the technology they adopt will remain open, enterprise-ready, and work securely with their governed enterprise data. As a member of the AAIF, Snowflake is partnering to ensure that the tools and standards that are shaping agentic AI reflect real-world needs, from data interoperability and security to scalability and ease of use. We’re excited to help build a community that will make agentic AI both practical and transformative for everyone.

Why the AAIF matters now
Successfully deploying agentic AI at scale in real-world enterprise environments requires clear protocols and shared frameworks that allow components from different vendors and developers to work seamlessly together. We believe that standardization of agentic AI tooling, driven by neutral collaboration in open source communities, is the best way to ensure interoperability and prevent fragmentation in this rapidly evolving space.
The AAIF, hosted under The Linux Foundation umbrella, is a brand-new, neutral open source organization dedicated to standardizing the building blocks for the next generation of AI agents. The Linux Foundation's strong track record of supporting development in the open makes it an ideal home for this collaboration.
The AAIF is launching as the home for three key projects that are already shaping agentic AI:
Model Context Protocol (MCP): Pioneered by Anthropic, this protocol helps define how models interact with context and history.
goose: An innovative framework for building extensible AI agents from Block that addresses core agentic challenges.
AGENTS.md: Originally from OpenAI, this initiative focuses on defining the structure and behavior of AI agents.
By bringing these leading projects under a common, neutral banner, the AAIF fosters an environment where standardization can thrive without vendor-specific concerns.
Snowflake’s commitment to open AI standards
As a leader in enterprise data and AI, Snowflake understands that the success of modern AI apps and agents relies entirely on seamless access to quality data, as well as the open standards and frameworks that make that high-quality data possible. Our investment as a member of the AAIF underscores our belief that the future of intelligent agents must also be built on open standards.
We are proud to stand alongside other industry leaders, including fellow Gold members Adyen, Arcade.dev, Cisco, Datadog, Docker, Ericsson, IBM, JetBrains, Okta, Oracle, Runlayer, SAP, Temporal, Tetrate and Twilio Inc. Also joining the AAIF, as Platinum members, are Amazon, Anthropic, Block, Bloomberg, Cloudflare, Google, Microsoft and OpenAI, while 19 other organizations have joined at the Silver level: Chronosphere, Cosmonic, Elasticsearch, Eve Security, Hugging Face, Kubermatic, KYXStart, LanceDB, NinjaTech AI, Obot.ai, Prefect.io, Pydantic, Shinkai.com, Spectro Cloud, Stacklok, SUSE, Uber, WorkOS and ZED.
Collectively, we will contribute to the next evolution of AI, ensuring that developers everywhere have access to the foundational tools needed to build sophisticated, reliable and interoperable agentic systems on the Snowflake platform and beyond.
Through financial and technical contributions, Snowflake proudly supports and participates in several foundations and open source communities — and the AAIF serves as the latest. We look forward to collaborating with the community to drive open standards in AI and supporting further developments in the agentic AI space as fostered by the AAIF.
