Eu Kwang Chin: JAPFA is one of the leading protein producers in Asia. We have about 40,000 staff across the countries that we operate and our business model is really vertical integration, from feed production to breeding, commercial farming, and distribution. 

Everything that we do is captured in the data. So we use it to understand and feel our business - where are areas that we can do more, where are opportunities that we can invest and grow. 

We are a data lake user on Snowflake and now with the availability of very powerful AI features, we are now building new tools that allows our staff to get a better feel of operations. 

So for the management, we are actually generating management reports powered by the data consolidated across systems. So they can get a view of the company, the country, the business operations within the country, all the way down to the operating units. In the past, it takes a few weeks for them to look at the monthly reports and right now, we are talking about a matter of days. 

At the same time, down on the ground at the farm level, the production staff that's attending to the animals, we are building short messages to inform them what they need to focus on. So there is an alert mechanism that we draw data from Snowflake and then we repurpose into messages. 

Jean-Luc: At JAPFA, they are a very innovative organization, having so much data and having the opportunity to use Snowflake as a very simple platform, easy with native function, easy to use. So they are using Cortex on Snowflake. We can try different kinds of OCR models to help having the best solution for JAPFA. 

Eu Kwang Chin: So SBI is really a partner to help us co-innovate. Our project is really looking at extracting information from non-traditional data sources, like images and videos on events that's happening in the farm. How can we extract those information out and then translate into an application that will give our operation immediate insights. 

Jean-Luc: There's no AI strategy without data strategy. We are very much focused on the journey of the data. When I look at the relationship with Snowflake, JAPFA, and SBI, as a team, we have been able to align on the objectives to make a success for the project. And this is something that I'm very proud of!

Eu Kwang Chin: We are one of the first agriculture companies to have a sustainability linked bond issued in Asia. So sustainability is really in our DNA. I think what our solution is able to help us with is really about efficient use of resources to produce the best products for our customers.
