PSA BDP is a global logistics organization. We focus on building sustainable and resilient supply chains for our customers all around the world. The logistics world is a highly complicated environment. This data can be disparate, can be real-time, can be disconnected. Our strategy is to bring that into one place, harmonize it, structure it, gain insights from it, and create value for our customers through utilizing that data.

We were embarking on a data product vision. We were sitting on top of a wealth of data, especially the information of the vessels located across the globe, billions of trade volumes of data that was coming in and information of disruption coming as an unstructured data into our platform. We had all of this information coming in big volume and at high speed, and our old platform was not able to take it.

So, we needed to work with a tech player who is fast, adaptive, who keeps data, AI, ML at the center. The obvious choice was Snowflake.

We use Snowflake as an end-to-end data solution. Right from storage to databases, to analytics, to AI, ML workloads, and to share data, we use Snowflake, all in one platform. We needed a platform that’s able to scale, and Snowflake is able to provide that cost-effective options. At the same time, we are also looking for ease of use for our user to be trained in weeks rather than months that they are able to quickly set up, run queries, build products.

Cortex AI is a phenomenal tool because any ML model that's available in the market is available within Cortex AI seamlessly. That allows us to try out new use cases instantly. Streamlit, which sits on top of the Cortex AI solution, allows our data scientists to bring use cases to life and to discuss with business users, and the speed to market becomes faster for us.

Snowflake comes with its own governance and metadata management system, which is backed by AI in terms of how the metadata gets generated. So, both security and governance is part of the overall solution.

We have achieved a cost reduction about 40% from previous solutions in terms of our ability to ingest data in real-time basis and sharing data with our business unit using internal Marketplace. So, this has actually allowed us to be more efficient and productive.

From the account management team, we have connects on a monthly basis where they share various releases, new capabilities that are coming up, they share the roadmaps, so it allows us to prepare our roadmap and our data journey much better and faster. We also have a close collaboration with the professional services team of Snowflake who give a deep dive on any product offering that comes within Snowflake and allow us to navigate through the Snowflake journey quite seamlessly.

Snowflake platform has also undergone continuous improvement in terms of functionality, such as adding on new features like Snowflake Intelligence, Openflow, multi-model AI SQL, and enable us to access to different generative AI models and agentic capabilities all within the same platform.

Partnering with Snowflake has allowed us to transform as an organization from a data-based organization to an organization that utilizes data for insights and leveraging that for success.
