Judo Bank is a commercial bank. We focus exclusively on the SME segment of the Australian economy. That means that our clients are anywhere from agriculture to the baker on your local street corner.
Judo is very much a data-driven organization. We use data to better understand ourselves, our markets, and our customers. And we integrate as much data as we can into a single consolidated platform to be able to achieve that.
The challenges that we faced early in our journey were of agility and scalability. We needed to accommodate very rapid change in our organization. We found that the technologies that we had did not support that and we needed to make some drastic changes, which was at that point a decision to go to Snowflake.
It is not just a database; it is a data ecosystem. The ability to separate data storage from data compute meant that we could very quickly provide the resources that our teams needed as they needed to scale up and scale down. It comes as an integrated suite of services in the data space—from Snowflake Marketplace, which provides us with external market data, to ML capabilities, to foundational data processing and data storage capabilities. It gives us the ability to provide some really good oversight and monitoring trust around our data, both in terms of data usage as well as in terms of data quality.
Ataccama complements Snowflake by acting as the data trust layer on top of Snowflake. So we provide automated data quality checks, monitoring, and validations for all data that flow into and across Snowflake.
Snowflake provides the AI Data Cloud as the foundation where Judo Bank runs its workload. We enable Judo Bank to deliver cleaner data faster, and we also contribute to the speed in data processing in Snowflake as well.
I would say that the relationship between Ataccama, Snowflake, and Judo is exceptional. There is a very short feedback loop between ourselves, our data teams, our technologists, our business teams, and our software partners.
We are ambitious in what we want to achieve with data specifically. We have a very clear idea of what our future goals are going to be and what the technology needs to be able to do to support that. And so far, Snowflake is ticking all the boxes.
