At Grow Indigo, our mission is to accelerate agricultural transformation for a healthy planet. Indian agriculture contributes significantly to environmental challenges, accounting for 18% of greenhouse gas emissions globally and 12% locally. We address this by manufacturing agri-input products that reduce farmers' dependency on chemical fertilizers. So far, we have treated 7 million acres of land in India.
Our second major vertical is centered on carbon. Our carbon program currently has 2.5 million acres of land registered and involves 200,000 farmers. As our business grew, data fragmentation became our biggest challenge. With data residing in multiple vertical-specific databases and the addition of a 1,000 farmers daily, the volume and variety of data were overwhelming. Our data team was forced to spend their time managing data rather than analyzing it.
After evaluating multiple data clouds, we chose Snowflake, which provides a single platform to manage both structured and unstructured information. Snowflake offers a robust data security framework to govern and secure our data, and it allows for seamless data sharing between our group companies. The first major benefit we’ve seen is moving from data management to data analysis, including running advanced crop detection models natively on Snowflake that process 200,000 polygons.
We have also improved how we capture information when expanding into new geographies. Previously, 15% to 20% of our engineering bandwidth was dedicated to optimizing our app for new regions. Now, with document OCR, the sales team can simply capture information from paper and digitize the record with the click of a button. In our biological division, where data availability was once a bottleneck for distributor outreach, we have built data bots that allow us to converse with our data in real time.
As we look to the future, our goal is to reach 5 million acres for our carbon program. We plan to deploy advanced remote sensing AI models for crop and practice detection, processing both structured and geospatial data to improve our remote sensing team's efficiency by 30% to 40%. At Grow Indigo, we are redefining the future of sustainable farming, and with Snowflake’s AI Data Cloud, we are accelerating agricultural transformation for a healthy planet
