Ultimately, what we want to do in North West London is improve the health and wellbeing of our population. That's the most important thing. The work that we do is entirely based on public trust, and so anything we do, we have to make sure that we have their trust, and that's why this concept of the secure data environment is key.

Our vision is around enhancing the health and wellbeing of our population through data driven interventions, using some of the tools we had previously, things took a lot longer, months and months and months to get access to data, historically.

With snowflake, we are able to ingest and transform data in days compared to what was taking us weeks in our previous architecture, we are able to operate in a multidisciplinary setting. We can work as a data engineer, analyst, a clinician and a researcher all together within the same platform to maximise the benefit we deliver to the patients across the broad portfolio of projects that we are involved in.

Our primary focus is always being able to demonstrate impact so improving the quality, the safety or the experience of the care that our patients receive through snowflake marketplace, we have access to other data that supports environmental determinants, such as weather data predicting when we might see flares in patients presenting with asthmatic exacerbations, and we might start to see higher demand on our emergency departments. Is just one example of that.

There's even bigger and a better future for the healthcare as a whole, as part of a London secure data environment. We are now expanding what we have set up in North West London with Imperial to the whole of London.

The data is everything. Without that data, we wouldn't have the information we need to support direct patient care, operational decision making and corporate back office functions. Snowflake has certainly helped us do that very well.
