Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
Frank Slootman currently serves as Chairman and CEO at Snowflake. Frank has over 25 years of experience as an entrepreneur and executive in the enterprise software industry. Mr. Slootman served as CEO and President of ServiceNow from 2011 to 2017, taking the organization from around $100M in revenue, through an IPO, to $1.4B. Prior to that, Frank served as President of the Backup Recovery Systems Division at EMC following an acquisition of Data Domain Corporation/Data Domain, Inc., where he served as the Chief Executive Officer and President, leading the company through an IPO to its acquisition by EMC for $2.4B. Slootman holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in economics from the Netherlands School of Economics, Erasmus University Rotterdam.
Co-Founder & President of Product
Benoit co-founded Snowflake and currently serves as President of the Product division. Benoit is a leading expert in parallel execution and self-tuning database systems. Prior to founding Snowflake, Benoit was with Oracle for over 10 years as a lead architect for parallel execution in Oracle RAC and a key architect in the SQL Manageability group. Prior to Oracle, Benoit worked at Bull Information Systems. He helped define the architecture and lead database performance efforts for Bull’s parallel systems. Benoit has a PhD in Computer Science with a focus in Parallel Database Systems and is a named inventor on more than 100 patents.
Chief Financial Officer
Michael Scarpelli serves as Chief Finance Officer at Snowflake. Prior to joining Snowflake, Mike served as CFO at ServiceNow from 2011-2019. He previously served as Senior Vice President of Finance and Business Operations of the Backup Recovery Systems Division at EMC from July 2009 to August 2011, after EMC acquired Data Domain where he served as CFO for three years. Scarpelli holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Western Ontario.
Chief Revenue Officer
Chris serves as Snowflake’s Chief Revenue Officer and has been with the company since 2013. Starting as employee #13 and Sales employee #1, Chris built a Go To Market strategy from the ground up, driving sustained high growth and global reach. Under his sales leadership, Snowflake has grown its annual product revenue from $0 to over $1 billion.
Chris has over 20 years of technology sales experience. Prior to Snowflake, Chris served in Sales leadership roles at EMC and Aveksa, and worked in enterprise sales at Informatica and Covalent Technologies (acquired by VMware). He holds a BA from the University of Delaware. Chris is married with 2 daughters and is an avid skier and golfer.
Chief Marketing Officer
Denise has 20 years of technology marketing experience at high-growth companies. Prior to joining Snowflake, she served as CMO for Apigee, an API platform company that went public in 2015 and Google acquired in 2016. She began her career at collaboration software company Genesys, where she built and led a global marketing organization. Denise also helped lead Genesys through its expansion to become a successful IPO and acquired company. Denise holds a BA in Business Administration and Economics from Stockholm University, and holds an MBA from Georgetown University.
Chief Human Resources Officer
Sylvia serves as Chief Human Resources Officer at Snowflake. She has over 25 years of experience leading key aspects of global IT and HR organizations in high tech and healthcare. Sylvia was previously Vice President, HR Technology and Digital Experience at Snowflake. Prior to joining Snowflake, Sylvia was Vice President of Global Operations and Business Applications at ServiceNow. In both her ServiceNow and Snowflake roles, Sylvia was instrumental in scaling HR functionality in hypergrowth environments into successful and sustainable post-IPO trajectories.
Co-Founder & CTO
Thierry co-founded Snowflake and currently serves as Chief Technical Officer. Thierry is a leading expert in query optimization and parallel execution. He spent 13 years at Oracle focused on the optimization and parallelization layers in Oracle databases including as lead for the optimization group. Before Oracle, he spent seven years at the IBM European Center of Applied Mathematics working on data mining technologies. Thierry has a PhD in Computer Science with a focus in Database Systems and holds over 70 patents.
Chief Information & Data Officer
Sunny Bedi serves as the Chief Information & Data Officer at Snowflake. Prior to joining Snowflake, Sunny held Corporate IT and Operations leadership roles at Nvidia from 2008-2020 as they scaled from less than 2,000 employees to 15,000. Previously, Sunny has held leadership roles at VMWARE, JDSU, Deloitte Consulting and Andersen Consulting. He holds a BS and MBA from University of San Francisco, and Executive Education in Leadership and Technology from Stanford University.
SVP, Product
Christian Kleinerman is a database expert with over 20 years of experience working with various database technologies, currently serving as Senior Vice President of Product at Snowflake. He has more than 15 years of management and leadership experience. At Microsoft, he served as General Manager of the Data Warehousing product unit where he was responsible for a broad portfolio of products. Most recently, Christian worked at Google leading YouTube’s infrastructure and data systems. Christian earned his bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Los Andes University, and he is a named inventor on numerous Snowflake patents.
SVP, Engineering and Support
Grzegorz (Greg) Czajkowski, a distributed systems and organizations scaling expert, is Senior Vice President of Engineering and Support at Snowflake. Prior to Snowflake, Greg spent 13 years at Google, where he was VP of Engineering responsible for a broad portfolio of Google Cloud data analytics and machine learning products and for internal services addressing data analytics needs of all of Google’s businesses. Before Google, Greg spent six years at Sun Microsystems, working on Java runtime environments and operating systems. Greg has a PhD in Computer Science from Cornell University, an MBA from UC Berkeley, and an undergraduate degree from AGH Krakow, Poland. He holds over 50 patents.
General Counsel
Derk Lupinek serves as General Counsel of Snowflake. From 2017-2019, he was Vice President, Legal at ServiceNow, where he was responsible for corporate, securities, and M&A. Prior to ServiceNow, Derk was an attorney at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, where he gained broad experience across the firm’s primary corporate practice areas, including start-up representation, venture financings, capital markets transactions, public company reporting, and mergers and acquisitions. He holds a B.A. degree from UCLA and a J.D. degree from UC Hastings College of the Law.

Mike joined Sutter Hill Ventures in 2008 from Yahoo!, where he was Vice President of Community products. He joined Yahoo! through the acquisition of Bix, where he served as CEO. Previously, Mike was Vice President and Technical Advisor to Symantec’s Chairman & CEO. He also served as Vice President of Product Marketing and Product Management at VERITAS Software, which Symantec acquired. He also co-founded Epinions.com, worked as a consultant at McKinsey & Company, and was an analyst with CS First Boston.
From January 2015 to December 2020, Kelly Kramer was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Cisco, managing financial strategy, and overseeing all financial functions, corporate development, mergers, acquisitions, integrations and investor relations for the company with total revenue for fiscal year 2020 of $ 49.3 billion and more than 77,000 employees. Before being named CFO in 2015, Kramer was Senior Vice President of Business Technology and Operations Finance, partnering with the Development organization across business groups, segments, and operations on strategic long-range planning, budgeting, and forecasting new-offer development, as well as the analysis and strategy of product pricing. In addition, her organization managed finance for the company’s supply chain, marketing, corporate communications, operations, HR, and IT groups.
Kramer joined Cisco in 2012 as Senior Vice President of Corporate Finance. Prior to Cisco, she was Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of GE Healthcare’s Healthcare Systems business. During her 20 years with General Electric, she held other CFO roles including CFO of GE Healthcare Biosciences, a division in Life Sciences and Molecular Diagnostics. She also worked in GE’s corporate headquarters, and Transportation Systems and Aerospace divisions. Kramer has extensive experience in financial planning and analysis, profit-and-loss leadership, and mergers and acquisitions.
Kramer serves on the board of directors and the Audit Committee for each of Gilead Sciences and Coinbase.
Kramer holds a bachelor of science degree in mathematics from Purdue University and received the Purdue University College of Science Distinguished Alumni award in 2017.
John’s career in enterprise software has focused on building and running world-class sales, marketing, and professional services organizations. John was responsible for $1.4B in annual revenue, when he served as Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Services at BMC Software. Prior to BMC, John served as Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Services with BladeLogic. He played a critical role in transforming BladeLogic from a startup, to a public company, to the firm’s $880 million acquisition by BMC Software.
Jeremy Burton is the Chief Executive Officer of Observe, Inc. Prior to Observe, Jeremy was Executive Vice President, Marketing & Corporate Development of Dell Technologies, and served in various leadership roles at EMC prior to Dell. A 20-year veteran of the IT industry, Jeremy joined EMC from Serena Software, where he was President and CEO. Previous to Serena, he led Symantec’s $2 billion Enterprise Security product line as Group President of Security and Data Management. Jeremy also served as Veritas’ Executive Vice President of Data Management Group and Chief Marketing Officer. Earlier in his career, he spent nearly a decade at Oracle as Senior Vice President of Product and Services Marketing.
Teresa Briggs is a senior executive with deep experience in strategy, business transformation, and governance. She currently serves on the boards of ServiceNow (NYSE: NOW), Warby Parker and Snowflake.
Teresa previously served as a Vice Chair & West Region and San Francisco Managing Partner of Deloitte, and as Managing Partner, Silicon Valley. Deloitte is the world’s largest professional services firm and provides audit, tax, financial advisory, and consulting services to more than 20 industry sectors in over 150 countries. Approximately 80% of the Fortune 500 turn to Deloitte for strategies that create shareholder value.
A financial, digital, and M&A expert with a uniquely broad and deep perspective into the challenges facing many of the world’s most innovative companies, Teresa built Deloitte’s U.S. West Region into a $3.0B business. Working with a wide range of clients including TPG, Nordstrom, Yelp, McKesson, and PG&E, Teresa earned her reputation as one of the most trusted advisors in the Bay Area. Additionally, from 2005 to her retirement, she led Deloitte’s global relationship with Apple, which spans a momentous period including the release of the iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch and saw Apple increase its market capitalization from less than $10B to more than $1T. She was integral to establishing Deloitte’s enterprise alliance with Apple, focused on enabling people to “work the way they live” by digitally transforming companies. This prompted Apple CEO Tim Cook to describe Deloitte as “the ideal partner”.
Teresa has been a stabilizing force in the C-suite and boardroom of influential companies across the technology, retail, consumer products, and healthcare industries. Displaying foresight and expertise, she has designed effective strategies to overcome today’s biggest challenges, particularly around digital transformation, enterprise risk, cybersecurity, and other vitally important strategic and operational issues. Teresa’s governance experience extends from her time in the boardrooms of many of her major clients to Deloitte’s U.S. board of directors, where she served on committees overseeing compensation, M&A, risk and regulatory matters (including cyber), and large internal investments. An established thought leader, Teresa created Deloitte’s onBoarding Academy, a board readiness program, and she has demonstrated her commitment to board diversity through creation of Deloitte’s Women on Boards program.
From September 2019 through August 2020, Teresa is enrolled as a Fellow at Stanford University’s Distinguished Careers Institute. Given her Audit and M&A Partner experience and extensive boardroom experience, she qualifies as a financial expert and is well-equipped for board and Audit Committee service. She would also help a board address key issues including digital transformation, human capital, governance, and M&A.
In addition to her board responsibilities at Deloitte, she has held a number of governance roles with professional and community organizations. She served as a member of the Executive Committee of the Bay Area Council, and the boards of directors for the California Academy of Sciences and the University of Arizona Eller College of Management.
She is a frequent speaker on topics including corporate board diversity, sponsorship and inclusion, and was a Stanford Entrepreneurial Thought Leaders speaker. Teresa holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Arizona Eller College of Management and was named Alumnus of the Year in 2015.
Mark brings nearly 40 years of experience to Snowflake as an executive leader, an expert in accounting and financial management, and a visionary in growing and transforming technology companies. Mark joined Adobe in 2007 as Executive Vice President and CFO, leading Adobe’s worldwide finance, operations and corporate development activities, including investor relations, procurement, global supply chain and order management, and corporate strategy and strategic partnerships. He retired from Adobe in April 2018. Prior to Adobe, Mark held senior leadership positions at Documentum and EMC. As Executive Vice President and CFO, Mark co-led Documentum’s $1.7 billion sale to EMC. Following the sale, he became Senior Vice President and CFO of EMC’s Software Group. Mark also serves on the boards of Cisco, GoDaddy and Pure Storage.
As President and CEO of Arista for over a decade, Jayshree Ullal is responsible for Arista’s business and thought leadership in cloud networking. She led the company to a historic and successful IPO in June 2014 from zero to a multibillion-dollar business. Formerly Jayshree was Senior Vice President at Cisco, responsible for a $10B business in datacenter, switching and services. With more than 30 years of networking experience, she is the recipient of numerous awards including E&Y’s “Entrepreneur of the Year” in 2015, Barron’s “World’s Best CEOs” in 2018 and one of Fortune’s “Top 20 Business persons” in 2019.
Jayshree holds a B.S. in Engineering (Electrical) and an M.S. degree in engineering management. She is a recipient of the SFSU and SCU Distinguished Alumni Awards in 2013 and 2016.
From 2011 until 2018, Mark served as Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Palo Alto Networks, a global cybersecurity company, and as Vice Chairman of the Board until December 2022. From 2009 through 2011, Mark served as President and Chief Executive Officer of VeriSign, Inc., a provider of internet infrastructure services. Prior to that, Mark served in several roles at VeriSign, including as Executive Vice President, Products and Marketing. President Barack Obama appointed him to serve on the President’s National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee in January 2011, and he served on this Committee until April, 2023. Mark currently serves as Chairman of the board of directors of Qualcomm, Inc. and as a director of Snorkel.AI. Mark holds a B.S. from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and a J.D. from Seattle University School of Law.
Steve Burke had a long career in the media business, most recently serving as CEO of NBCUniversal. Prior to that he was President of Comcast Cable and Chief Operating Officer of Comcast Corporation. Mr. Burke currently resides in Bozeman, Montana where he runs a private investment firm named Madison Valley Partners. Mr. Burke currently serves on the boards of directors of J.P. Morgan Chase and Berkshire Hathaway.
