I'm Chris Elliott, Cloud Data Architect at Denny's. My role within the organization is to basically facilitate everything data. Here at Denny's, our motto is that we love to feed people. Having data in the right format at the right time, enables us to be able to do that.
We approach our data management challenges, by working closely with our customers to go after the data that they're looking for. Our Snowflake journey started, when we started noticing issues with our current environment. A lot of slowness, so resource contention. We had a lot of queries that were run along, failing, all those kind of things.
We looked at Snowflake as a part of the solution. Some of the significant improvements that we've seen after migrating to Snowflake is we're able to process things much more efficiently, much faster, than we've ever done before. We can get things done in seconds where within our old environment it may have taken hours to do. Because of that, we're able to better serve our customers by providing them more timely data than they have been used to in the past.
So we're able to actually even add further checks on accuracy of the data and those kind of things as well that they did not have. Part of the reason we were looking at, coalesce, we needed a data transformation tool. Once we got data into Snowflake, we needed a way to be able to transform that and get it into a readable format that we can use with our, you know, reporting tools, have end users, query, however they see fit to access the data. And so, Coalesce for us beat everybody else because of that.
So we looked at both, kind of evaluated, you know, from a end user standpoint, a technical standpoint, end user being how easy is it to use, how easy is it to bring someone new into the fold, and get them up to speed as quickly as as possible without potentially learning a whole lot of proprietary code. In the future, the partnership with Coalesce and Snowflake, we're looking to leverage that as much as possible.
Coalesce is really good about keeping up with all the the new newly released features of Snowflake, implementing them into the product so that it's easier to take advantage of those new features within Snowflake. AI is an exciting thing. Within Denny's, we're excited to be able to, you know, looking a little forward into the future here, to be able to look at forecasting foot traffic, to be able to more accurately determine speed of service within our restaurants, to know that the order is accurate, like how can we approve order accuracy? Running all those things against an AI model within Snowflake that keeps our data within Snowflake, is an exciting thing. It cuts down on data movement and those kind of things, and, we're excited to be able to take advantage of everything that Snowflake and his partners are offering with us.
