Snowflake Training &Enablement

Whether you're just getting started with Snowflake or you’re driving advanced data projects, explore this page for training and resources to be successful every step of the way.

Hands-On Essentials Track

If you’re new to Snowflake or new to databases in general, and you like hands-on labs and short videos, this is the track for you. Each workshop requires that you submit proof of lab work and the lab work is graded by a suite of code we call DORA! If you succeed, you’ll get badges you can share on LinkedIn. The courses in this track are free, and many of the badges are also free!

Recommended learning track:

  1. Badge 1: Data Warehousing Workshop

  2. Badge 2: Collab, Marketplace & Cost Estimation Workshop

  3. Badge 3: Data Application Builders Workshop

  4. Badge 4: Data Lake Workshop

  5. Badge 5: Data Engineering Workshop

Key Concepts

and Architecture

Snowflake’s Data Cloud is powered by an advanced data platform provided as a self-managed service. Snowflake enables data storage, processing, and analytic solutions that are faster, easier to use, and far more flexible than traditional offerings.

Overview of

Key Features

This topic lists the notable/significant features supported in the current release. Note that it does not list every feature provided by Snowflake.

Data Management

and Lifecycle

Snowflake provides support for all standard SELECT, DDL, and DML operations across the lifecycle of data in the system, from organizing and storing data to querying and working with data, as well as removing data from the system.

Snowsight

Quick Tour

Introduction to the main pages in the Snowsight and the tasks you can perform in each page.

Snowflake

in 20 Minutes

This tutorial uses the Snowflake command line client, SnowSQL, to introduce key concepts and tasks, including:

  • Creating Snowflake objects — You create a database and a table, for storing data.

  • Loading data — Small amount of sample CSV data files are provided for you to load into the table.

  • Querying — Finally, you explore sample queries.

Bulk

Loading

This tutorial describes how to load data from files in an existing Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) bucket into a table. In this tutorial, you will learn how to:

  • Create named file formats that describe your data files.

  • Create named stage objects.

  • Load data located in your S3 bucket into Snowflake tables.

  • Resolve errors in your data files.

Semi-Structured

Data

In this tutorial, you do the following:

  • Upload sample JSON data from a public S3 bucket into a column of the variant type in a Snowflake table.

  • Test simple queries for JSON data in the table.

  • Explore the FLATTEN function to flatten JSON data into a relational representation and save it in another table.

  • Explore ways to ensure uniqueness as you insert rows in the flattened version of the data.
