Welcome to Discover Workload Edition where we will explore the full capabilities of the Data Cloud including practical demos and walkthroughs. We begin our journey with a high level architectural review examining key capabilities you can use to solve complex data challenges. We complete our introduction by showing you how to get your first Snowflake environment setup in minutes

10:30 AM AEST | 12:30 PM NZST

L100 - Practical - Build Your Warehouse Step-by-Step
Session Descriptor

Join us for this live walkthrough where we look at understanding and working with a Snowflake Data Warehouse. In this practical session you will learn how to navigate the Snowflake interface, basics of working with data in Snowflake, core capabilities and simple scaling of a data warehouse.

Data Lake
Introduction & Build

11:30 AM AEST | 1:30 PM NZST

L100 - Data Lakes in Snowflake - Getting Started

Session Descriptor

Learn the benefits of using Snowflake as your Data Lake to simplify cloud architectures. In this session we examine why Snowflake makes sense for all raw data in one place for all data types. We examine how to unlock benefits that range from inexpensive storage, easy collaboration for teams to work across all data, common tools, access controls, tracking data dependencies and more. This session is a technical primer for those new to working in Snowflake.

12:00 PM AEST | 2:00 PM NZST

L200 - Practical - Creating Data Lakes Step-by-Step
Session Descriptor

Now we have created our warehouse with some basic data we look at a practical lab where we introduce semi-structured and unstructured data. Connecting to and working with these data types traditionally is challenging for both administrators and data analysts. In this demo we walk through working with JSON (semi-structured data) and PDF (unstructured data) to extract and store data which can then be used by Snowsight observe trends and insights. This demo allows you to walk away with the key concepts of centralisation of Data Warehouses and Data Lakes into a single system.

Continuous Integration & Development with Data Lakes

1:00 PM AEST | 3:00 PM NZST

L100 - Continuous Integration & Development with Data Lakes
Session Descriptor

Now you have created your Data Cloud it’s time to discover how easy it is to rapidly build and develop new functionality into your Snowflake environment. In this introduction we will look at the process to build, develop, test and deploy. Hard challenges typical associated with Data Lakes and Data Warehouses are made simple with Snowflake, we step through key concepts that you can leverage in your day to day operations. This really is where the magic happens as you begin to clone, copy, roll back and take advantage of a single data platform.

1:30 PM AEST | 3:30 PM NZST

L200 - Practical - Go Live! Deploying New Assets with Snowflake Data Lakes
Session Descriptor

It’s time to take concepts and put them into action. In this practical demo we take the functionality introduced in the prior ‘continuous integration session’ and see these in action with a real world scenario. We take a guided tour where we clone production data sets to create instant dev environments, apply masking rules, look at securing dev roles, create clusters and finally work with the data for production usage.

                        THURSDAY 13 APRIL
Optimising Your Data Lake and Warehouse for Scalability & Productivity

10:00 AM AEST | 12:00 PM NZST

L100 - Maximising for Scalability & Productivity - Top 10 Hacks, Tips & Tricks
