How is the Snowflake Data Cloud shaping the future of data-driven health? That was the theme of Snowflake’s Healthcare and Life Sciences Forum, which kicked off on April 21, 2021. The event featured healthcare providers and life sciences organizations that are using Snowflake to improve patient experiences, redefine care delivery, and accelerate COVID-19 research.
Sessions explored:
- The latest trends and best practices in healthcare and life sciences data analytics
- How health insurers use Snowflake’s versatility to deliver better service to their members
- How life sciences organizations employ Snowflake to deliver data-driven products and services
- How Snowflake addresses healthcare and life sciences organizations’ data needs by harnessing the global data network
The keynote and sessions featured some of the many healthcare and life sciences organizations that use the Snowflake Data Cloud to improve patient outcomes. If you missed a session, or would like to watch it again or share it with others, here are a few highlights from the forum with links to the session recordings:
Pfizer has used Snowflake to help digitize drug discovery and manufacturing, enabling it to improve patient outcomes, reimagine clinical trials through robotics and automation, and perform predictive analytics for diagnosis and supply chain tracking. Pfizer has also been able to drive marketing and sales performance with faster insights and improve safety and risk management.
Novartis creates transformative treatments and products for nearly 800 million people globally. Novartis chose Snowflake’s Data Cloud to achieve interoperability across vendors, systems, and data sources; promote innovation and improve effectiveness for analytics and data science teams; and enable a global data strategy by leveraging multi-cloud capabilities.
Anthem uses the Data Cloud to take action and drive decision-making. Anthem takes a “whole person” approach to healthcare, considering many factors—including social drivers of health—that influence health every day. At the core of this effort is Anthem’s digital-first approach, which uses data-driven insights to personalize care for every individual. The Data Cloud helps Anthem turn numerous sources of data into valuable, actionable insights.
The COVID-19 Research Database brings together organizations across the industry, including Datavant and DataSF, to support the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic by sharing technology services, healthcare expertise, and de-identified data. The database, built on top of Snowflake, supports the global research community with over 100 active studies using data sourced from the Data Cloud. It enables the community to investigate the effects of COVID-19, including research about how state closure policies affected healthcare services that aren’t related to the pandemic, variations in infection and mortality rates based on socioeconomic factors, and the cost implications of testing programs in different regions.
Abacus Insights’ platform ingests and curates healthcare data, avoids data wrangling, achieves interoperability, and gets more value out of data. By combining the Abacus Insights platform and Snowflake solution, health plans can have seamless access to data at scale, transforming their business and delivering more personalized care and better member outcomes.
Prisma Health and the Care Coordination Institute (CCI), the most comprehensive integrated healthcare system in South Carolina, are focused on delivering quality outcomes and exceptional healthcare experiences. Prisma Health and CCI leveraged Snowflake to optimize value based care for different patient populations, inform proactive patient outreach and preventative care, and power their data-driven COVID-19 vaccination program.
