Snowflake Ascent is a step-by-step live and free, Data Cloud training conference delivered by Snowflake’s technical instructors. Our instructors will outline the Data Cloud architecture including data warehousing, data lakes, data engineering, data science, data applications and data sharing. The instructor-led hand-on labs will show you how to set-up your instance and accelerate your ability to unify, integrate, and share previously siloed data with virtually unlimited scale and concurrency. You will be able to follow the training with your free-trial account and have your questions answered.

Introduction to Snowflake

This section will outline the Snowflake platform, starting with What is The Data Cloud, an end to end on the architecture including core workloads – data warehousing, data lakes, data engineering, data science, data applications and data sharing. You will learn how to set-up a trial account, how to navigate between the classic UI and the new Snowsight UI, and what is an Account URL.

Module 1: Identity and Access with Snowflake

This section will outline the basic predefined roles in Snowflake, you will learn about roles and how they relate to both database and warehouse visibility.

Module 2: Data Containers

In this section, you will learn about creating databases, dropping and creating schemas, how to create a worksheet and run code as well as how to use the SHOW commands.

Module 3: Tables, Data Types and Loading Data

In this section, you will learn about tables and data types, and how to create tables using SQL including how to insert data into a new table.

Module 4: Worksheets and Warehouses

In this section, you will learn what worksheets and warehouses are and how you can use them to write and execute queries.

Module 5: File Formats and the Load Wizard

In this section, you will learn how to prepare data for loading, how to massage it prior to load and how to set up file formats, how to load tables using the Load Wizard and then view the newly inserted data.

Module 6: Staging Data

In this section, you will learn what a Snowflake stage object is and how it is used in the data loading process. You will also learn how to use the LIST command to discover the contents of a stage and how to use the COPY INTO statement to load data into a table from a stage.

Module 7: Data Storage Structures

In this section, you will learn how to model data effectively in Snowflake so you can create and populate data storage structures that will give you the answers you need.

In this section, you will learn the basics of how Snowflake natively supports the storage and querying of semi-structured data.

Module 9: Nested Semi-Structured Data
