Snowflake Computing and Informatica Partner to Bring Together Data in the Cloud
May 24, 2016
Partnership Makes Integrated Data from Diverse Sources Available to Data Professionals without the Limitations of Traditional Solutions
SAN MATEO and REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – May 24, 2016 – Snowflake Computing, the cloud data warehousing company, and Informatica (NYSE: INFA), a leader delivering transformative innovation for the future of all things data, today announced a partnership to deliver universal access to data by leveraging the cloud. In addition to technical collaboration to provide native integration between Snowflake and Informatica based on the new Informatica 10 Connector SDK, the two companies will also collaborate to help businesses bring together and use data in the cloud easily and confidently.
Using Informatica’s proven data management solutions with Snowflake’s innovative cloud data warehouse provides customers a powerful solution for bringing together both cloud and on-premise data with the agility and scalability needed to provide universal access to data and analytics. Built on the new Informatica Connector SDK, the next-generation native Snowflake connector for Informatica will fully leverage Snowflake’s unique capabilities, giving Informatica PowerCenter and Informatica Vibe the ability to provide scalable data movement and in-database transformations that leverage Snowflake’s unique scalability and elasticity. Customers can dramatically accelerate the time from data to analytics even as their data and users scale with the confidence that comes from robust data quality management.
“Informatica delivers the enterprise-class data management platform that companies need to get a clear view of their data,” said Don Tirsell, VP of cloud alliances, OEM and business development at Informatica. “Snowflake and Informatica together provide a path for businesses to accelerate adoption of the cloud with an enterprise-class, scalable and flexible solution for bringing together and analyzing data from the universe of sources that is available to them today.”
Snowflake’s Elastic Data Warehouse is a data warehouse provided as a cloud-native service, built from the ground up for today’s data and analytics. Snowflake automates infrastructure, management, and optimization so that organizations can focus on using their data instead of managing infrastructure. Snowflake’s native support for diverse data, both structured and semi-structured, accelerates analysts’ access to diverse data without sacrificing flexibility or performance.
“Access to data is critical to the survival of the modern company, but the challenges of doing that has been the death of far too many data analytics projects,” said Bob Muglia, CEO at Snowflake Computing. “Informatica and Snowflake recognize the critical opportunity to leverage the cloud to create a revolution in how organizations make data available to data users as quickly and scalably as possible.”
The Snowflake Elastic Data Warehouse is generally available and is being used with Informatica by customers such as market research firm Research Now. The next-generation Snowflake connector for Informatica, built on the Informatica App SDK, will provide further performance and scalability advancements for customers.
“Snowflake’s integration with Informatica made perfect sense to us,” said Raphy Mathias, director of insights and analytics at Research Now. “We already had Informatica expertise, and using Snowflake with the Informatica connector allowed us to quickly bring together complex data sources in a trusted and scalable platform so that we can solve the toughest big data problems out there.”
