Who Counts? Queer Data, Inclusive Marketing and the Business Case for Change
A Pride Breakfast hosted by Snowflake in partnership with Hightouch & Outvertising
Data shapes everything in marketing: who we target, how we segment, what we measure. But what happens when the data itself has a blind spot?Join us for a morning of conversation about queer data: what it is, why the numbers we rely on so often fall short, and what brands and marketers can do about it.
Dr Kevin Guyan, author of Queer Data and Rainbow Trap and Director of the Gender + Sexuality Data Lab at the University of Edinburgh, will open the morning. Kevin’s work asks a deceptively simple question: who counts? Not just who gets represented, but who gets counted in the first place, and what the gaps, assumptions and blind spots in our data systems cost us.
We’ll then move into a panel discussion with Outvertising – the LGBTQIA+ advocacy organisation for UK advertising and marketing, working to drive queer representation and inclusion across the industry – and other senior voices from across UK advertising and marketing. The panel will cover representation measurement, workplace inclusion, and the practical tools available to drive change.
We have a limited number of copies of Rainbow Trap to give away on the day.
