In this exclusive C-level round table session about the foundation of digital business, we will show and discuss the steps towards a modern cloud data strategy.
A clear data strategy comes first. If it is not in line with the business strategy, a lot of money will be lost. Then comes good data governance, which is all about people, policies, processes and culture. Those responsible for data strategy – IT, architect and C-level execs – should be on the same page.
Master data management and data quality are always needed, but especially so once the decision to move to the cloud has been made.
A lot of questions need to be answered. Can the cloud solution handle high volumes of data? How about security and the risk of data loss? Does the proposed solution fit into the reality of today’s multi-cloud environments? And do we actually have a sharp image of what the organisation’s data ecosystem looks like?

Frank Slootman currently serves as Chairman and CEO at Snowflake. Frank has over 25 years of experience as an entrepreneur and executive in the enterprise software industry. Mr. Slootman served as CEO and President of ServiceNow from 2011 to 2017, taking the organization from around $100M in revenue, through an IPO, to $1.4B. Prior to that, Frank served as President of the Backup Recovery Systems Division at EMC following an acquisition of Data Domain Corporation/Data Domain, Inc., where he served as the Chief Executive Officer and President, leading the company through an IPO to its acquisition by EMC for $2.4B. Slootman holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in economics from the Netherlands School of Economics, Erasmus University Rotterdam.
Daniel Gebler is CTO of Picnic, the world’s fastest growing online supermarket that makes grocery shopping simple, fun, and affordable for everyone. Previously, he was Director R&D of Fredhopper, responsible for the product and technology roadmap, and led engineering teams located in Amsterdam and Sofia. Daniel holds a PhD in Computer Science and an MBA.
Martijn Groenewegen (1972) currently fulfills the role of IT Director within Syntrus Achmea Real Estate & Finance, responsible for the total IT portfolio and turn-around transformation program towards a multi-vendor and innovative cloud organization. He has an experience of over 20 years in IT Strategy & Execution in both managerial and consulting roles on C-level. His personal signature is in the leadership required for visionary breakthroughs in complex environments or corporate organizations with technology and architectural challenges. From 2012 to 2017 Martijn has been active as an entrepreneur with his own coaching and interim label Fivestring and as an associate partner of METRI and GroupMapping. From 2005 to 2012 he served as a VP IT in several roles within Stater (ABN Amro Group), amongst which as the program management for the insourcing of a $50B mortgage fund and operation. Prior to that he worked for Nolan, Norton & Co, Capgemini and DSM Fine Chemicals in a variety of roles in a broad international context. Martijn Groenewegen holds a master degree from the Eindhoven University of Technology in Industrial Engineering and Management Science with a special interest in organizational psychology.
