Energy Transition & Digitization

May 29, 2024 | 09:30 AM – 6:00 PM | Capital C, Amsterdam

Event at Capacity: Registration Closed

We’re in the midst of a major energy transition. Distributed energy resources are changing the electricity system from centralized to disparate. Physical infrastructure—including transmission grids, distribution grids, and power generation—must be digitized in order to keep the electricity system reliable and secure.

Yet all of this also presents a huge opportunity for energy companies! In this day-long workshop, we will focus on two specific areas:

  • Digitizing physical infrastructure: Grid operators, power generators, and distributed energy companies all need access to Internet of Things (IoT) data to power analytics. This track will focus on different ways to ingest, clean, and model data, and to build AI/ML applications on top of this data.
  • Generating new customer offerings: Rooftop solar, electric cars, and heat pumps—energy customers today want a broad set of offerings. This track will focus on real use cases that leverage Gen AI to improve customer service, identify new customer offerings, and expand into new lines of business.

Expect to meet other stakeholders solving similar challenges and to identify new solutions.

Alliander: Why Moving from a Centralised Data Warehouse to Data as a Product Matters in the World of AI
Centralized data infrastructure can be quite complex and require a lot of administration to maintain. Alternatively, data mesh and data fabric architectures, purport to reorganize the technical implementation of the central system to the business domains enabling more self-service access. In modern companies, every team wants their business intelligence served up hot and fast. But whilst almost every company would consider themselves a ‘data-driven’ organization, not every data architecture treats data access and ownership the same way.
Join Alexander Rietbroek, Product Manager at Alliander and Ciaran Dynes, Chief Product Officer, at Matillion where they will discuss the benefits of a data lake, data mesh and data fabric architectures and hear how Alliander is transforming its data platform to enable self-service data and AI analytics using data-as-a-product principles.
