Mukuru is a financial services platform for Africa's emerging consumer. Our mission is simple. We want to be there for our customers when they want to spend or store. Often, our customers are those that were previously excluded from the traditional financial system, migrant communities, and families. We help them bridge the cash and digital divide, help them move money across borders and provide financial services that will go on to improve their lives. We've served more than 17 million customers across more than 250 million transactions. We have partnerships throughout Africa as well as Europe and several developing nations.

We're dealing with vulnerable people, everyone realises that and we're all moving the same direction. It just makes it an absolute pleasure to go to work every day.

Within our data environment, we are integrating transactional data engagement data on our customers, as well as data from our external partners.

The old system was a little bit inflexible for increased business demand. There were delays around ETL processing for development staff. They were constantly working on the platform, less time spent on adding business value.

Within a few months of going live on Snowflake, we developed and released a single view of customers. We are using the granular customer data for personalised customer journeys. We can learn of customer pain points sooner and respond to them and provide more relevant customer experiences. What would have taken us 9 months to develop and deploy, took us just over three months, and overall, what we've seen is a 60% improvement in our analytics cycle times.

Snowflake keeps on adapting. They keep on being in touch with the pulse of the data community. Mukuru was awarded a deposit-taking microfinance institution licence in Zimbabwe. Since being awarded that licence, there's been a major uptake of one of our core features, which is our Wallet feature. Without Snowflake, the ability to adapt and adjust to an unknown increase in volumes of transactions would have been really difficult.

We were able to just adapt. Also with Snowflake's elastic platform we can scale without runaway costs in order to meet some peak demand workflows.

The real reward is ultimately being able to deliver what business needs. When we deliver what business needs, we're delivering what our customers need. Snowflake, for me, is a game changer.
