Safegraph: Demographic, Foot Traffic and Places
A collection of demographic data in addition to Starbucks foot traffic and core places data
Safegraph offers three different datasets:
- A complete dataset of demographics from the US Census by Census Block Group along with SafeGraph’s CBG (neighborhood) insights & visit patterns
- Foot traffic insights for all Starbucks locations in the US
- Business listing info, including lat/long, for all US Starbucks locations
Details about each listing are the following:
US household demographic data by blockgroup
Complete Demographic Data: 7500+ demographic attributes (income, age, education, etc.) available at the Census Block Group level. All data from the American Community Survey is available in bulk with a clean schema and joined with Census Block Group geometry.
Visit Patterns by Census Block Group: Identify most popular neighborhood brands, how people travel between communities, and when people visit census block groups. SafeGraph’s Places Patterns is joined to census block groups to easily analyze Points of Interest (POI) visitor demographics, other brands they visit, and more.

Foot Traffic Patterns – Starbucks
Foot Traffic Patterns is a dataset containing aggregated foot traffic metrics to individual points-of-interest (POI), including visits and unique visitors, where else they also visit, median distance from home, median dwell time and more. This free dataset includes patterns for January 2019 for Starbucks locations across the US. Dataset contains patterns for more than 11,000 POI.
All SafeGraph POI-based datasets utilize safegraph_place_id as the primary key and are formatted as delimited CSVs. SafeGraph updates the Patterns dataset every month with the past month’s foot traffic, based on the POI in the latest release of the Core Places dataset, and maintains a persistent safegraph_place_id across releases. SafeGraph Core Places – Starbucks
All SafeGraph POI-based datasets utilize safegraph_place_id as the primary key and are formatted as delimited CSVs. SafeGraph updates the Places dataset every month with the past month’s openings and closings and maintains a persistent safegraph_place_id across releases, though this particular data sample is only for a single month. Our detailed Core Places Schema* is available online. Additionally please refer to Places Data Manual* for more detailed field definitions and methodologies.
