CARTO: Unica360 – Urbanity (Spain, Grid 100m)
Classification of areas based on their population density and level of urban vs. rural centrality.
A typology of urbanization tries to synthesize, in a few types, the great complexity of residential habitat types existing in Spain. Given that the process of urbanization has marked the transformation of the habitats for centuries, we approach this problem as a classification into types of areas that can, in turn, be associated with a scale of urbanity (central) versus rural (scattered) centrality versus rurality (disseminated) periphery.
