Federated Authentication

What is Federated Authentication?

Federated authentication enables the secure sharing of identity information across an extranet between a federation of trusted business partners. When users need to access a Cloud-based application from a federation member, the users’ organization takes responsibility for authentication and providing identity information to the federation member.

Snowflake and Secure Data Sharing

To fully support data sharing between affiliates and trusted partners, Snowflake offers a range of vendors that provide native Snowflake support for authentication and single-sign on (SSO), including Okta and Microsoft ADFS (Active Directory Federation Services). In addition, Snowflake supports using most SAML 2.0-compliant vendors as an identity provider (IdP).
