Snowflake has a history of simplifying end user work across data roles. We’ve freed administrator time by removing tedious tasks like indexing and tuning, enabled data engineers and scientists looking to run in the language of their choice with Snowpark, and helped companies collaborate with secure data sharing.
Today we’re thrilled to announce the general availability of Snowsight, which is now available to analyze your data in Snowflake, generate and share insights with colleagues, and administer your Snowflake account. With this update, we’re furthering our commitment to provide an integrated and seamless experience for crucial data tasks.
This effort was initiated with our acquisition of Numeracy a few years ago. We had seen customers using different tools across the data lifecycle to load data, query data, manage database objects, and monitor their account. Rapid data exploration is critical to all those workflows, so we focused on expanding the analyst experience in Snowflake through new features such as autocomplete, automatic data profiling, visualizations, dashboards, and collaboration.
As we started onboarding more customers into Snowsight, it became clear that we should tackle experiences beyond just Worksheets, including Snowflake Data Marketplace, understanding and tracking costs, auditing your account’s role hierarchy, monitoring the copy history for Snowpipe, and in-app support. Through a series of updates, we’ve helped users collaborate more efficiently, work faster, and reduce errors.
Community voices
While we’re excited by this important GA milestone, this is simply the beginning. We’re grateful to the tens of thousands of users who already trust Snowsight to administer their account, discover available data, generate insights, and collaborate. As part of developing these experiences, we heard from many users (including a few Snowflake Data Superheroes) how this interface is helping them move faster and more efficiently in their daily tasks.
Jamie Hornstein, a senior director of IT applications at WernerCo, shared at one of Snowflake’s Data for Breakfast events how critical Snowsight was for the development experience both during and after on-prem migrations.
“Snowsight has been a game changer for us,” Hornstein said. “As someone who came from the SQL Server environment, the user and developer experience in Worksheets includes visualizations, contextual statistics, and the ability to quickly look at query history and query plans. It allows us to create performant queries with ease, analyze data during the development cycle, and make sure we’re getting the right data we’re looking for faster.”
Clark Perucho, a Snowflake Data Superhero and DBA, highlighted how Snowsight helps with data visualizations: “Since Snowsight is designed to support data analyst activities, it automatically generates charts from the query result, which will enable us to instantly visualize our data.”
Veronika Durgin, a Snowflake Data Superhero and head of data, explains how search is helping her find what she needs faster: “Let’s say I am exploring a new data set and want to see how many columns a certain value appears in. All I have to do is just run my query and then add a string to the search box. The result will be filtered down to just rows that have the value I am looking for in any column. The matching rows will also be conveniently highlighted.”
Frank Bell, a Snowflake Data Superhero and VP of Analytics and Data, likes how Snowsight saves him time and reduces errors: “[T]he combination of what I call AutoSuggest and AutoComplete is a huge improvement and probably has already saved thousands of hours of errors and misspellings of tons of functions, tables, views, procedures, schemas….This is huge and not in the classic [console].”

Are you ready to try it out? It takes just one click on the Snowsight button in the classic console:
You can return to the classic console at any time, and can even set your default experience from your profile in Snowsight.
