Snowflake’s Business Continuity Strategy for COVID-19

At Snowflake, putting customers first is our No. 1 core value. Part of that commitment is keeping our cloud data platform as a service operating continuously around the world. With the recent events surrounding COVID-19, more commonly known as Coronavirus, it’s important our customers know what Snowflake’s strategy is to ensure business continuity.
A cross-functional team at Snowflake meets daily to assess developments concerning the virus. They also review local, state, and federal advice and guidelines to protect the health and safety of Snowflake employees.
We have also formed a planning and response team. The team includes members from our security, engineering, IT, and customer support teams to proactively monitor the availability and stability of our cloud data platform as a service. We have taken measures to ensure our service continuously serves our customers’ data and analytics needs.
Delivering a continuous service
First and foremost, we built Snowflake from the ground up to deliver reliability. Our cloud service has been architected to ensure our service operates continuously without interruption. In addition, we have our own policies and procedures to detect and respond to any situations that may arise. We also work with our third-party providers that help ensure service reliability.
Our customer support and other teams tasked with ensuring the reliability of our service are working remotely. Since Snowflake is built from the ground up for the cloud, we have the people and technology to do their jobs securely from any location. This ensures our service operates as normal. Similarly, we have taken precautions to ensure that relevant expert knowledge is available at all times.
Postponing large events
The demand for our cloud data platform as a service continues to surge. In response, Snowflake hosts events for prospective customers to learn how our service can benefit and transform their organizations. Over recent years, these events have grown in size and have spread to five continents. We have postponed these events to ensure the health and safety of all attendees, including our valued employees. Our annual user conference, Snowflake Summit, originally scheduled at the Aria Resort in Las Vegas, from June 1-4, has also been postponed.
Aligning with health organizations
We are monitoring trusted sources such as the Centers for Disease Control, the U.S. Department of State, and the World Health Organization as the situation surrounding the Coronavirus evolves. We will take any additional measures necessary for health and safety purposes.
