At Snowflake, we give our customers the ability to know, protect, and unlock their data through strong data governance capabilities native to our Data Cloud platform. We also align with ecosystem partners to help our enterprise customers open up data governance to a broader set of personas across their organizations, including data stewards, data governors, and security and privacy officers.
Every company, regardless of its size and industry sector, now has to pay more attention than ever before to how it governs sensitive data to meet a growing range of vertical, national, and global regulations.
The challenge for organizations is how to address these burgeoning privacy and regulatory compliance obligations as the volume, forms, and complexity of data exponentially increase. Being able to open up data governance capabilities to more personas and departments within an organization helps share the responsibility for managing risk.
Today, Snowflake Ventures announced that we are among the Series G investors in Collibra, a leading data governance and data catalog company. In its latest funding round, Collibra has raised $250 million, raising its valuation to $5.25 billion. Founded in Belgium in 2008, Collibra now has over 1,000 employees and more than 550 global enterprise customers.
Collibra is an Elite-tier Partner with Snowflake and is part of our recently launched Data Governance Accelerated Program. This is a new initiative, which highlights a select group of best-of-breed partners which have built integrated governance solutions with Snowflake to benefit customers.
Through our latest Snowflake Ventures investment in Collibra, we’re further strengthening our partnership by building deeper product-level integrations around data lineage and object tagging, which provides organizations with the ability to create their own tags and then associate them with data objects. Data stewards can then use those tags to track sensitive data for compliance throughout the lifecycle of that information. Similarly, we have row access policies and data masking features which are being integrated deeply into Collibra’s workflows to ensure sensitive data is accessible only to authorized users.
The Snowflake Data Cloud provides native capabilities for data management, governance, access control, and audit. With Collibra, these capabilities are surfaced across the enterprise, so every team can access accurate data. Through a combination of our built-in data governance capabilities and deep integration with Collibra, Snowflake enables customers to easily govern their data at scale, without sacrificing the high performance and security they expect.
