One Snowflake customer created a new data product using Snowflake Secure Data Sharing that generated $100,000+ in first year revenue.

Another customer used Snowflake Secure Data Sharing to transform a daily four-hour, 100 GB data copy down to zero, providing live data access to partners.

Attend our Secure Data Sharing track at Summit to hear success stories like these.

Overview: Secure Data Sharing

Secure Data Sharing is available to all Snowflake customers. Secure Data Sharing enables you to service data consumers (customers, partners, and more) in a scalable and cost-effective manner. It frees you from the drudgery of data movement, providing secure, real-time data access to your subscribers. All within Snowflake.

The cloud is creating more reasons and opportunities to share data. In legacy systems, data is physically copied across systems. This process is costly, error-prone, and scales poorly. Snowflake Secure Data Sharing eliminates data copying, giving data subscribers read-only access to select portions of your data in Snowflake. Secure Data Sharing with Snowflake is easy-to-use, cost efficient, and secure.

Customers are creating new data products built on top of data sharing to more easily monetize their data and provide a better customer experience.

Creating New Data Products

Snowflake Secure Data Sharing gives you, the data provider, complete control over how you monetize your data. For static data, you can charge customers a one-time fee. Evolving data sets may be best suited for a subscription model, such as a fixed fee per month of data usage.

Snowflake doesn’t charge for Secure Data Sharing, nor does Snowflake participate in your data sharing business model. Snowflake is incentivized to drive more interactions by providing the infrastructure and features to enable better insights for clients.

In our Secure Data Sharing session track, hear from mobile marketing company Braze on how they leveraged Secure Data Sharing technology to provide a brand new product offering to help drive an improved product experience for their clients. Braze’s data products help their customers discover personalized benchmarks unique to their maturity, sophistication, and success. Braze’s customers use this data to better understand their end-users and communicate with them as unique individuals.

Enabling Partners

Some companies don’t have a need to monetize their data, but add value by sharing data within their business ecosystem. For example, a trucking company could share near real-time component failure data with manufacturers to proactively address issues before a vehicle breaks down.

Atheon Analytics provides visual analytics tools and services to the grocery retail and consumer goods sectors. As part of the Secure Data Sharing track, Atheon will detail how they use Snowflake Secure Data Sharing to combine their data assets together with their customer’s data assets. This information is provided to customers to help them analyze, address, and solve real-world business problems.

In addition, Blackboard, an education technology company, will detail how they deployed Secure Data Sharing to give 1,000+ universities access to granular student data. Accessing this data gives universities deep analytics on how students are performing in their classes. Blackboard plans to provide this data access to several thousand more of their university clients.

Attend the sessions with Atheon Analytics and Blackboard for great examples of Snowflake Secure Data Sharing at scale.
