A remarkable showcase for talent debuting this year, the Snowflake Startup Challenge brings together early-stage startups to build innovative applications and products in the Snowflake Data Cloud.

The winner will be chosen on the basis of the applicant’s business potential and innovation, as well as the strength of the company’s leadership team and how the product leverages Snowflake capabilities. The grand prize winner may receive up to a $250,000 investment from Snowflake Ventures, along with comarketing opportunities, exposure to top-tier VCs, and more. (See the official rules for more details.)

Hundreds of startups from 56 countries submitted an application this year. We were impressed by the quality of submissions and want to thank everyone who participated. After a rigorous judging process, we are thrilled to announce the 10 semi-finalists:

Tern.ai

Tern.ai is a machine learning (ML) platform that enables data scientists to self-serve and reduce dependency on data engineers. It improves collaboration among data scientists through feature reuse, dependency tracking, version management, and a user-friendly API/SDK that supports easier onboarding.

OverlayAnalytics

OverlayAnalytics creates streamlined dashboards that are built on a repeatable base of agreed-upon metrics and connected to real-time data. Through this automated reporting, customers can make data-driven decisions more quickly and confidently.

Nix

Nix built a simple, cost-effective way for companies and individuals to manage vehicle data via Snowflake Data Marketplace. Its product uses an IoT device to collect vehicle data and supports multiple use cases, including fleet management, ELD (electronic logging device) compliance, insurance, and auto repair.

Resultably

Resultably is an employee analytics app that uses Snowflake to rapidly contextualize employee data to understand who people know and how they work together. By providing a single source of truth, it changes why, when, and how businesses hire and manage their workforce.

Voice Affinity

Voice Affinity built Query Pro, a conversational AI that lets people query their company’s Snowflake data for BI purposes. It interprets questions and gives clear answers as a verbal response in milliseconds—along with relevant figures and charts. It can be accessed via a web app or a voice assistant.

Carve

Carve is a data experience tool that automatically documents data assets within a customer’s Snowflake instance and augments that metadata with AI- and ML-curated telemetry information. This lets users quickly identify new, modified, or deprecated data assets and their associated data quality, lineage, definitions, and usage.

Growth Book

Growth Book built an in-house A/B testing experimentation platform that connects to existing sources of data and fosters a culture of experimentation. It gives any company the power of a full-featured and customized testing solution at a fraction of the cost.

Invoke Learning

Invoke Learning built Clairity, a higher education AI technology that helps colleges and universities improve student graduation, retention, engagement, and diversity rates by leveraging data to uncover new insights across the student lifecycle.

Elysium Analytics

Elysium Analytics is a security analytics platform that provides aggregated views of all activities across an enterprise. By using risk-based profilers, the application gains full visibility into any anomalous and suspicious behavior through risk-based scoring of event data.

Siman Systems

Siman Systems built a digital treasury management application for financial institutions that provides a holistic, real-time view of liquidity health. It provides BI with multiple lenses for all treasury and risk analysis, which lets financial institutions be more strategic about navigating internal and external constraints.

What’s Next for the Semi-finalists

Each semi-finalist will submit an investor pitch video and have an interview with the judges to discuss its entry and leadership team’s experience. Based on these interviews, the judges will select three finalists, which will be announced on May 21.

From there, the finalists will pitch their startups to the panel of judges, which consists of Snowflake executives and representatives from top-tier VCs, at the (virtual) Snowflake Summit to be held on June 8–10, when the grand prize winner will be selected.

Congratulations to all semi-finalists. We look forward to the next phase of the competition and announcing the grand prize winner at Snowflake Summit!
